the history of osteopathy

Osteopathy was first developed by American doctor Andrew Taylor Still. There have been many transformations this profession underwent and today Osteopaths in the US are fully licensed physicians. In Europe traditional Osteopathy is still more commonly practiced, which is a hands-on therapy. Some modalities of Osteopathy such as Craniosacral Therapy and Visceral (Organ) Manipulation might be more known in the US these days.

conditions that can Benefit from Osteopathy include:

  • Motorvehicle Accidents Injuries (PIP Insurance accepted)

  • Back / Neck Pain

  • Headaches / Migraines

  • TMJ / Jaw Problems

  • Ear & Sinus Congestion

  • Restricted/ Painful Joints

  • Tendonitis

  • Digestive Problems

  • Sciatica and other nerve impingement symptoms

What to expect

If you are comfortable in underwear, this is the easiest way for me to work on you. Otherwise please bring shorts/ a sports bra or tank top or anything else you feel comfortable in.

To find health should be the object of the doctor. Anyone can find disease.

releasing stress

The premise is that any stressor in our life (physical- like injuries or repetitive strain, emotional, even spiritual) leads to adaptive mechanisms in our body. Usually this works well until the body has had too many accidents, repetitive strain, emotional or physical stressors that the body cannot compensate properly and the result is discomfort or pain. As we release these restrictions out of the body by various hands-on techniques we create more adaptive capacities and we can get back to enjoying health, enhanced posture, greater flexibility and strength and decrease pain, stress and rehabilitation time.

Babies + Children

Leaving the womb can be an intense process, and ideally, babies should enter an environment that’s as similar as possible to the physical environment of the womb.

In reality, births can be less than ideal. Working with newborns can minimize and eliminate the impact of difficult births and intrauterine (in the womb) constrictions (like low amniotic fluid, short umbilical cord, etc.). It helps to ensure healthy and content babies. Infants and children’s body’s are a lot more fluid, can adapt and tend to correct themselves easier then adults do. It is most beneficial if newborns receive treatments as soon as possible after birth. Therefore I offer home visits for newborns up to 6 weeks. Email me directly for these.

Pregnancy and Childbirth is a journey like no other. Thankfully babies are very capable to adapting to various stressors that might have occurred during pregnancy or the birth process, but sometimes help is needed to develop well and enjoy health. If they are not corrected, they can interfere with proper cranial nerve function leading to colic, swallowing, digestive or sensory-motor impairments and more.

My priority in the treatment room is for your child to be comfortable. This means some of our time is dedicated to getting to know each other and playing. Only once this relationship is established, I can make sure I can give your child the best treatment possible.
