JAMIE MILLER, L. Acupuncturist

My mission is to help people live vibrantly in their bodies, psyches and spirits, by serving to facilitate a state of freedom from pain and imbalance on all levels.

My path to becoming a healing practitioner began with my own personal quest to recover from severe injury and chronic pain. Although restoring my own health and wellbeing was not a simple straightforward process, it taught me a lot about the nature of healing, and opened my heart to what it is like to be a patient with serious health challenges.

In 2002, I suffered a near-fatal 30 foot fall that broke my spine. One of my vertebrae was crushed, my skull fractured, and my left femur bone split in half. This was a turning point on every level, setting me on a trajectory to seek profound healing, and forever changing the course of my life.

I came to understand that Western medicine—while miraculous in its own right—had limits. I knew that complete healing would require more than simply putting my body back together. I would also need to re-align and re-establish balance between the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects of myself.

First Yoga, then Pilates, helped me to rehabilitate my spine and re-connect my mind to my body, as well as re-integrate my broken spirit. So I went on to teach these practices professionally, helping people understand how to heal themselves. Yet still, there was chronic, intermittent pain that persisted as a result of trauma from the impact, and three subsequent surgeries. I was left with a lot of scar-tissue and musculo-skeletal dysfunction. I went on to discover the profound relief to be gained from bodywork, and eventually learned the art of Thai-Yoga massage.

Still there were layers to be uncovered, and pathways to be re-wired. Here is where I discovered Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture and herbal medicine had the most powerful and immediate affect on relieving pain in a lasting way, while simultaneously addressing the psycho-emotional and spirit-level aspects of trauma.

I went on to become an acupuncturist and diplomate of Traditional Chinese Medicine. After four amazing years of study, I graduated with a master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, in 2015.

I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree with a focus on Orthopedic Acupuncture and Integrative Sports Medicine. I have done extensive study and internships with masters in the field of sports medicine and pain management, and I am passionate about specializing in Acupuncture Orthopedics and emotional health. My mission is to help people live vibrantly in their bodies, psyches and spirits, by serving to facilitate a state of freedom from pain and imbalance on all levels.
